- TINY HARBOR — Keep a tiny island: tie up the trading boats, light them in at night, and grow a leaky tent into a cottage.
— privacy settings, and pages for parents
- A privacy settings page: choose non-personalised adverts, see every score and save the site has kept in your browser, download a copy, or delete it.
- Every game page now says plainly what is in the game, and has a link for reporting a problem.
- New pages: terms of use, contact, for parents, accessibility (with a warning about flashing lights) and credits.
- The privacy policy now explains what online play shares between two players' browsers.
— INKVALE
- INKVALE is on the pile: a tower defence painted in ink and watercolour, twelve battles long. Your towers paint the enemy — archers ochre, mages blue, artillery red — and two colours on one foe mix into a hex, a root of vines or a burst of fire. The spells are drawn on the road with the pointer.
- Every battle pays coins, win or lose, for hiring five more warriors in the Hall.
- Two Wardens: play it with a friend over the internet with a four-letter room code.
- A new Strategy category to put it in.
— a smaller pile, every game played through
- SNAKE, LINES, RALLY, INVASION, BRICKS, HOPPER and LIGHTS OUT have been taken off. The pile is smaller and every game left on it is one of ours.
- Every game was played through again by hand, and what that turned up is fixed:
- HIGHRISE: the arms are the right size — the pistol, rifle and shotgun sit low and to the right instead of filling half the screen, and your other hand is on the shotgun's pump.
- NIGHT SHIFT: the police no longer start searching before you have done anything; the first units on the scene actually reach it now; the job has an arrow pointing to it; and the panels on the left can be read.
- CROSSING is pixel art all the way through, menus and scoreboard included. STACK builds into a sky that turns to sunset and night the higher you go. DRIFTER has a new look: glowing rocks, a nebula, and a ship you can see.
- EXPOSURE, KICKBACK, GRIND CITY, SOUTHPAW and DUNGEON QUEST fit the player on the page instead of running off its edges.
- SPACE starts the small games from their menus. Smaller fixes in PIPEWORKS, SPIKE, QUICKDRAW and KICKBACK.
— two new games, and a guide for every one
- SOUTHPAW is on the pile: arcade pixel boxing against ten opponents, each with a weakness you have to find, plus a gym to spend your winnings in, a locker room, and special modes for wrestling and sumo.
- PENGUIN DASH is on the pile: a penguin fishing a two-kilometre sea for thirty-six kinds of fish while seals, sharks and orcas hunt it, with deep caverns, twenty-two penguins to unlock and upgrades to buy.
- Every game page now has a full written guide under the game: how it plays, tips taken from how the game actually works, what is in it, and answers to the usual questions.
- Categories are real pages now, each with a short introduction and every game in it.
- Corrected several game descriptions that had fallen behind the games themselves.
- NIGHT SHIFT: you can now get away after being identified, if you stay unseen long enough; cold plates swap the plates on your car; the burner phone keeps the police from tracing your own.
- DRIFTER and SPIKE now play properly on a touchscreen. DRIFTER's hyperspace fires once per press instead of draining the tank.
- SWEEP: the board sizes run smallest to largest, and the clock starts at your first click. SPIKE no longer records two-player rallies as your best.
- Wrong text fixed in HIGHRISE (thirty-one floors, and the flare gun is on 9), KICKBACK, APEX, QUICKDRAW and PIPEWORKS.
- No more countdown panel before a game starts, and no advert directly above the game.
— HOOPS defence, APEX and NASCAR fixes
- HOOPS: defenders lean on the ball handler instead of reaching through him, and the first seconds of a possession are yours to set up.
- APEX: the car no longer spins on the spot.
- NASCAR: every car has its own pit box.
— NASCAR arrives, APEX grows
- NASCAR added: twenty ovals, forty cars, the draft, and pit stops.
- APEX brought up to date with the full game: thirty-three circuits, tyres and pit stops, rain with reflections, damage, and a sky and trees around the tracks.
- HOOPS: plays in landscape on the site and takes the keyboard properly; you have to leave the floor to block a shot, and a shot in progress can no longer be picked from your hands.
- KICKBACK: shots land where they should, enemies keep their faces when they turn round, and the guns have a range.
- HIGHRISE aims at the man you are pointing at. CROSSING is redrawn in pixel art. SPIKE has something to reflect.
— a new layout, and profiles
- The site was rebuilt as a portal: a category menu down the side, search, rows of games by category, and a featured game that changes every day.
- Profiles and save codes: your progress in every game can be copied out as a code and pasted back in on another browser.
— the new HOOPS
- HOOPS became three games: half-court streetball, full court with two rings and a clock, and the original stand-still shootout. The other players run plays, stamina matters, coins buy clothes, and you can play a friend online with a four-letter room code.
- DUNK was taken off, because HOOPS now does everything it did.
— eight more games
- Five classics: SNAKE, LINES, RALLY, INVASION and CROSSING.
- Three big ones: APEX, NIGHT SHIFT and GRIND CITY.
- CROSSING became endless: the road and river go on for ever and the screen chases you up it.
— bigger screens
- R restarts and F goes fullscreen in every quick game.
- The game area grows with your window instead of stopping at a fixed width.
- LIGHTS OUT: the torch no longer turns the screen white when you point it at a nearby wall.
— PLAYPILE goes up
- The site went live at playpile.net with sixteen games, a privacy policy and a cookie page.
